Well I told one of my friends I gave my son the PSP and she asked me if I was out of my mind. She said kids should not have expensive things like that , she also said I was out of my mind for buying my son an MP3 player which is a $25 spongebob one so I do not see the big deal in that, I saw on reviews that people had bought them for there kids as young as 3..
The only time my son is allowed to use the mp3 player or psp is when we go someplace , he never uses them at home, he has a radio and PS2 so there is no need for him to use them at home. We go out alot and sometimes travel and the PSP and mp3 player are something to occupy him.

In your case, I think you are fine. Like you said, he only uses them when you and him are away, or on vacation. So it's not like it's getting really worn out or anything.
I would never give a 3 year old any mp3 player or technology like that, no matter what the price is. I would want my kid to have some respect for property before giving them that.

It was not wrong to let him have the mp3 at all. It's a $25 so it's totally ok. It gives him more responsibility. But i think the PSP was a little risky to give him. It's expensive and if he has it in his room that is too much but if you have it and only let him have it on trips, then it's totally ok!!!Giving young child a expensive game and mp3 player?
wats wrong spendin money on ur kids? my daughter is 2yrs old, n i bought her a wii, ds, psp and her room is filled wid toys. also got a nephewe same age as ur son he also got a psp and a mobile phone. if ur k wid it then ur friends shudnt butt in.
you are the parent, its your decision. i just hope you teach your son to take care of his things.
