How do i become a Military doctor?

I'm interested in becoming a doctor in the U.S. Military. Would i have to go through college and med school first or can i go straight into the military? I've done a little research so i know that women are accepted into this field but would i have to work at the base or would i be able to work on the ground? If i can i would much rather work on the ground. I know that many women aren't let near high risk situations but would that be possible?How do i become a Military doctor?Medical staff are near but not at the "front" of any combat situation, and yes they have women as well as men there.

As you see you can get hooked up in college or med school, and get everthing paid. If I were doing this I'd choose the program Health Services Collegiate Program (HSCP), as that gives you a military position and paycheck, since that time probably counts for pay and retirement purposes.How do i become a Military doctor?
Most of the physicians in the military go through civilian medical school and then join the military after they are already doctors.

There are no restrictions based on gender. Physicians do get deployed down range to Iraq and Afghanistan, but mostly restricted to the FOBs (bases) where the hospitals are located, so aren't outside the wire knocking down doors or anything like that.



If you choose to go straight into the military, then understand you will be doing whatever job it is that you enlisted for, and this does NOT include preparing you for what is required to be a physician.How do i become a Military doctor?Go to college
