When Should a Teenager start thinkin' about joining the military?

what age should you think about it? is it a good decision or not? where can i find out more about the military? When Should a Teenager start thinkin' about joining the military? As soon as you see that being in the military is more than just carrying a gun around all day.

Once you have realized that you will be fighting for the protection of your county and that you may die while performing your duty, and you are ready to accept that- That's when you're ready to become a part of the military.

YOu can think about it all you want but you cant join until you are 17 with parental consent and 18 without. Id do my research as much as possible and really think about what you wanna put into it. you get out of it what you give to it. Start thinking about what you really want to do as a career and go take the asvab to see if you are qualified to do the job that you want. when you figure out a branch that best suits the job you want go see a recruiter and your journey starts from there. When Should a Teenager start thinkin' about joining the military?I first started thinking about joining the military when I was 12 or 13. Wanted to be an Air Force fighter pilot (oh, those were the days). In high school, I went through a bit of a rebellious streak and opposed all things military: I'm an officer's kid, so I grew up around bases and knew what the lifestyle involved.

However, I changed my mind when I was about 19, after having been to college for a couple of semesters, and decided to do ROTC through my university. So as for me, I think it's been a great decision: the pros outweigh the cons, but more importantly, it fits my personality and lifestyle.

That having been said, nobody can tell you if it's the right decision or not. That is something you will have to come up with on your own. The best way to do that is to get as much information as you can. Go to the services' websites (goarmy.com, for starters) talk to your school guidance counselors, talk to friends and family who have been in the military, and maybe call a recruiter. Don't be afraid to ask questions, and keep an open mind. If someone says "the military is great!" push them for specifics. If someone says "don't do it," ask them for their honest, factual opinion.

Many people I know regret joining the military, but like anything else, you get what you put into it. I suppose there's never an age that is "too early," but again - just do your research and make sure you're not joining because you think it'll be like some computer game.
