What are the rules for military and legal marijuana?

I currently serve in the military and know the rules about drug use are black and white. My wife has seizures, depression, headaches, localized constant pain and memory problems. Due to past family problems with prescription pain medication she will only take OTC pain meds. She asked me the other day if she could use legal marijuana and frankly I don't know if she can. We are in a state that will tolerate it but what about the military side?What are the rules for military and legal marijuana?If you show up on base smelling of weed...your in trouble ! If for what ever reason the military or feds come to your door.....your in trouble !

You do not fall under state laws, you fall under the federal and military laws, state laws do not supersede federal or military laws !

If your state allows it, and a doctor approves it, there should be no problem.

The military only cares if YOU take weed, not your wife.

especially if she has a mediacl condition.

If you are serving, then you cannot use marijuana. It makes you pacifistic and unable to perform duties in combat.

On the state side of the picture, you're good. What I don't know is if your spouse falls under UCMJ, do you guys live off post or in military housing? These are questions I would ask and try to consult with your chain of command. As far as on post is concerned, there is a zero tolerance policy.
