I know reporters, celebrities and politicians have been allowed to get flights with the Blue Angels or other military jets. There is a ton of politics involved with military performers and the aircraft they fly.

When I was in the US Navy it was a ton of red tape just to get on a plane guard mission...i.e. go on a helicopter ride while out to sea....
