All military ID cards have an expiration date, which is usually close to your ETS. The CAC cards have it in HUGE bold print at the very top. If you just forgot to turn it in... probably nothing will happen. If you try to gain entry to a base with it, then the gate guards who are checking IDs will see it, and confinscate it on the spot. As to what they try and do with you?? Will if you discharged from the military, and were NOT able to keep your benefits, then yes you will be apprehended. What the specific charge will be im not sure but rest assured you will get charged with something for unlawfully possessing a government issued ID card and then attempting to enter a restricted area ( and by restricted i mean ID card holders only) But you wouldnt do that anyways... cuz you know your out, and you know your not suppossed to have your ID still, and you know your days of going on and off base and buying tax free stuff at the exchange are over..... right?? So your question was of course hypthetical. =)What is the punishment for failure to surrender military ID card upon discharge from the Armed Forces? It really isn't a huge problem since the ID card has an expiration date and the new CACs have embedded chips with 'perishable' information. If anyone looks at is closely, they will see that it is useless. If you try to use it to get on base or at the exchange, it will be confiscated. What is the punishment for failure to surrender military ID card upon discharge from the Armed Forces?
if they dont ask for it, it is their fault. you cannot get in trouble for it. when they discharge you they are supposed to ask for it.
theres nothing you can really cite hunny, or you would've found it when you searched for it.. its common knowledge :)What is the punishment for failure to surrender military ID card upon discharge from the Armed Forces? They told me when I out-processed that if I didn't send it back after my ETS, they wouldn't mail my DD214 long form. I didn't send it back and still got my form. I lost the envelope, so I took my ID Card to a Reserve ID Card center and turned it into themWhat is the punishment for failure to surrender military ID card upon discharge from the Armed Forces?
Normally they will have you sign a Page 13 stating that you've lost the ID. In the 20 years I was in the Navy, I never heard of anyone being charged for losing their ID card.
Nothing will happen the card will expire. If you try to come on base or use it at any post exchange it will get taken.
