So, to answer your question, yes. Cuba does have an Army. Cuba also has a military that the Army is a part of.Whats the difference between an army and a military?
An Army is: A large, highly organized military force, concerned mainly with ground (rather then air and naval) operations used absolutely for that entire branch of the armed forces within a vast military, a very large tactical contingent (e.g. a number of divisions)
So, an army is PART of a nation's military.
BUT!!! Some nations have a very small number of soldiers and no desire to use an army for conquest. These nations typically refer to their army as a "defense force". Something similar to our own National Guard.
AS FOR CUBA:
Cuba was granted many subsidies from the Soviets during the Cold War. Nearly all of their equipment is of Soviet origin.
Cuba does have a full functioning military. But without backing from the Soviets and the US trade embargoes the military has become unfit and not very mobile. Here is a breakdown of their branches:
The Cuban Navy or "Revolutionary Navy" has around 12 functioning surface vessels, no submarines, and around 3,000 sailors. (Info as of 2007)
The Air Force or "Air and Defense Force" is believed by the IISS to number in 31 combat capable aircraft (and another 179 stored). The 31 combat capable aircraft were listed as 3 MiG-29s, 24 MiG-23s, and 4 MiG-21s. (Info as of 2007)
The Cuban Army or "Revolutionary Army" was believed (in 1996) to be at a strength of 38,000 Soldiers. Today their strength is estimated at about 60,000 regular Soldiers. These new figures may be true, but they do not follow the trends for the other branches of the Cuban military.
To give reference to our own Army: The US has 559,783 Active Duty Army Soldiers (not including Army Reserves). Another 203,213 Active Duty Marines. So, Cuba does not have a "Large" Army, but it is a size-able force.
So yes, Cuba has a military complete with Army, Navy, and Air Force. Hope that breaks it all down for you. Sorry about the length.Whats the difference between an army and a military?the army is part that does what the marines cant do. which is most things...
The army is a branch of the military. The other 3 branches are air force, navy, and marines.Whats the difference between an army and a military?foooo military is the whole branch, like army. marines. airforce. and navy. the army is just part of the militaryWhats the difference between an army and a military?
The army is part of the military, which can include a navy, an air force, and, yes, an army.
The military can mean any sort of militarized force. An army can mean a variety of things. Like the US Army has multiple Armies. An Army is also a term used to talk about Larger portions like from Divisions it goes up to Armies.
Also the branches of military in the United States are the Navy, the Army, Air Force and the Coast Guard. The Marines are not its own branch its part of the Navy. My A** rides in Navy Equipment= Marine.Whats the difference between an army and a military?
the difference is that the Army is a branch of the military. The military consists of Army, Navy, Air Force, navy Seals, National Guard, ect.
i think the army is the group that's sent out to a certain area after the marines raid it
and i think military means the whole thing, like the air force, navy, marines
