When is the military going to switch rifles?

Is the entire military going to switch rifles or is each branch individually going to switch? If so, which rifles will they switch to?When is the military going to switch rifles?There's been some testing, like with the XM8, but the fact is we don't really NEED to change over.



A LOT of the flaws have been worked out of the M16, and the M4 is a beauty.



Harder hitting weapons would be nice, but you can't really beat the ease with which an M16 series can be broken down for field maintainance, and the accuracy isn't anything to shake a stick at either.When is the military going to switch rifles?
If you're talking about the US army, they will continue using the M4 and M16 because they are far lighter and more reliable than almost any other rifle in the world. I know a new weapon the "sabre" is being developed, an M4 variant but I doubt there will be any major change soon. Especially regarding the US rifles are far better than the AK47 or FAL, and lighter and more reliable than the likes of the SA80 or AUG.When is the military going to switch rifles?The M16/M4 platform is perfectly fine. If you keep it clean, it will work. There used to be a ton of problems with them, not as much anymore.



Why do you think USSOCOM just dropped the MK16 SCAR (the 5.56 model)? Because it is no better, but no worse. They each had their pros/cons. But the cost of a new SCAR is much more than an easier solution. New uppers.



Many units are doing unit purchases buying new piston uppers. Our unit's M4s have LWRCI uppers and work flawlessly. Plus, we are getting new toys in 7.62 ;)
they have a prototype out for a rifle w 556 barrel and much larger barrel with smaller mag. not sure the model of it. saw it online few weeks ago. thing about switching weapons is there will be flaws with them just as the m4. dont get me wrong the m4 is a wonderful weapon good for both close quarters and medium range, however, it jams like a son of a ***** in my experience with them.



the m16 was not so bad with that but with urban combat in close range its not practical to have a weapon stand as tall as you lmao.
