What are the military ranks highest to lowest?

What are the military ranks highest to lowest? What are the military ranks highest to lowest?Depends on nation, but I'll assume you mean US. These are Army, Air Force and Marine Officer ranks:

General of the Army (5 star) used only in wartime

Lt General (3 stars)

1st Lt

2nd Lt

E9 ("Chief Master Sergeant", "Sgt Major", "Master Gunnery Sergeant")

What are the military ranks highest to lowest?Who's military and, in some cases, which Branch. In Canada the ranks are the same although the Navy calls some of them with traditional names but with the Brits, Aussies (I believe) and the US each branch names them something different.

There is no 'overall army'..the Army IS a branch OF the military..as is Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard etc. Example, Marines are not 'part of' the Army, they are only associated by the fact they are both separate branches of the military. IE. There are no 'military ranks' only a list of ranks for each branch..which can easily be searched.

EDIT: you know what will have what your looking for? Google. What are the military ranks highest to lowest?
