What is about the military connotation of strategy?

Please answer my question. It is for a report.

An author of the marketing book, "Out-of-the-box Marketing Principles that work and make sense" says he is against the term strategy because of its military connotation. What about the military connotation and how did it relate to strategy? What's your opinion about it?

In chapter five, which is entitled "Product and Service Strategies", the author says:

Strategy. First, let me make it clear that I'm against this term because of its military connotation. Second, and this is my out-of-the-box thought on the subject of military metaphor, I do believe that collectively, marketers must promote and support the pursuit for international peace and understanding...What is about the military connotation of strategy?Divide and conquer is a good example.

Works in military and marketing strategy. Pepsi and coke are a good example.
