How long does the military postal service take?

Last Tuesday I mailed something from a civilian German address to an APO address in Germany. The package still has not arrived. I know yesterday the military would not have worked having been a holiday but that is 5 business days. Is that normal?How long does the military postal service take?If you mailed it from Germany to an APO address in Germany then it has to go to the APO (in New York most likely) get sorted and then be shipped back to Germany for delivery.How long does the military postal service take?
How did you mail it?

All mail sent to an APO address goes to the relevant port of departure first and is then sent to the APO facility. If you mailed a package to an APO address through the German Post Office it would be sent to the US first and then relayed to the APO. If you sent it surface rate it could take 4 to 6 weeks to arrive in the US. If you sent it airmail it would arrive in the US in 1 or 2 days but would then take the usual 3 to 25 days to make it to the APO facility in Germany.

If sending something to an APO box from in theater (and not using the APO system) you must send it to the host nation address. For example only, if you were sending it to Box 1234, APO AE 09012 (Ramstein AB, Northside) you'd address it as follows:

%26lt;Name%26gt;
Postfach 1234
Flugplatz Ramstein
%26lt;local postcode%26gt;
Rhein-Pfalz

On rare occasions the local postal authorities may catch mis-addressed mail destined in country but you should not depend upon that. If they do they normally send it to the arrival port (used to be Rhein Main but may now be Ramstein) where it's picked up by the APO system.

Your local APO can give you their civilian equivalent address and often provide them for other installations in country and in theater.How long does the military postal service take?it will be sent to NYC then forwarded on to the location of the command/unit. it will take a good ten days most likely.. possibly longer.

each OCONUS FPO address has an equivalent LOCAL civilian address. next time you want to send something, use that address instead and it bypasses the side trip to NYC.How long does the military postal service take?
It will take you roughly 2 weeks for someone from america to send to Iraq Army, that is my job I am here in Iraq for the Army and that is part of my job, it is called a ttissmm, time it takes (google it) mail does get backed up, from bombings, weather, also, mail is alot of times not the most important part of a delivery.
