What's the best thing to say when passing a military service man or woman?

I do a lot of traveling for work, and at the airports I often pass military service men and women. I can't help but feel guilty for taking advantage of everyday things that these people are putting their lives on the line for, and I feel I should say something to show my appreciation and support. But I can't ever think of anything to say. Perhaps they would prefer to not be bothered at all. Any suggestions? What's the best thing to say when passing a military service man or woman?I think it is great that you are considerate enough to want to say something. You sound like a great guy ;)What's the best thing to say when passing a military service man or woman?
It sounds like you'd like to express your appreciation. When I've travelled in uniform, I've always been honored by people who came up to shake my hand, say thank you, or 'God bless you.' I've heard many stories of Vietnam vets who were spit on and called names. If nothing else comes of this war, at least Americans have learned to appreciate their service members. Step on up, say hello, thank you, or even 'may I buy you a cup of coffee to thank you for your service?' You'll never be turned down...unless they're late for a plane, of course!

If you want to remain anonymous, you could send a letter of thanks to your local USO center. Most airports have one. It will be displayed for all to read while they rest there. What's the best thing to say when passing a military service man or woman?I was returning home from ft jackson there for basic and it was an honor to get just a simple thankyou it means so much to us so please do not hesitate to say thanks....
The nicest thing is just to say thank you very much for your service to our country. You would be suprised how many have said very derogatory things to me, or thrown stuff at us. Just saying thank you, is quite enough..What's the best thing to say when passing a military service man or woman?Say thatnks and buy them a beer. If you have time just talk to them about where they are going and what the will be doing. What's the best thing to say when passing a military service man or woman?
Thank you and God bless.

'nuff said. What's the best thing to say when passing a military service man or woman?
Just smile, look them in the eye, and say, "Thank you for your service in the military." They ALWAYS say, "You're welcome."
Smile and nod. If you get the chance, tell them "Thank you for your service". They don't do what they do for a pat on the the back, but most service men and women I know are very patriotic and it makes them feel good to know that other Americans are patriotic and appreciative of what they do. Imagine where we would be without those brave people.
i usually nod ..make eye contact..and say thanks for serving...that about covers it...
Just say thanks! and if you have the opportunity to be eating where one or more soldiers are eating, call their waitress over and pay for their meal or at least a desert. That will let them know you appreciate what they are doing.
Thank you for serving our country. If its a Marine, say Ooorah, its if Army, say hooah.... I forgot the others.
I would kindly suggest:

First tell them "Thank You For Serving;Welcome Home~!"

Shake their hands, prehaps offer a word of Prayer with Them.

Love sissa~
THANK YOU FOR MY FREEDOMS

Simple-"Thank you for your service."

If they are in a bar buy them a beer.
Try a simple "Thank You " .
How about simply saying "Thank you for keeping us safe"? P.S.: You'll NEVER find a man or woman in uniform that would prefer not to be bothered at all -- hearing the citizens voice their appreciation for us really makes what we do that much more worthwhile.
Say "Thank you." It's all they want. Just to be acknowledged and thanked for giving themselves up as a sacrifice.
