It has been said that Obama is looking into 3 candidates, who are ex-military. Do you think this would be helpful to his campaign and/or presidency? What do you think about Obama electing a VP with military experience? It can't hurt I guess. I'm guessing you're referring to Wes Clark, Jim Webb, and Chuck Hagel? Though I've also heard Gen. James Jones is on the list too.
It really depends on which ones he picks. Jim Webb will look good for Appalachia and he's good on veterans benefits. Chuck Hagel will give him a bipartisan feel to his presidency, he's also helped with Webb's GI Bill and has been siding with the Dems on most foreign policy matters. Wes Clark I would say has a better chance at a cabinet position than a VP spot. James Jones... never heard of him but he's on the list. I'd say he falls into the same category with Wes Clark. So if he wants military experience in his VP I'd go with Webb and Hagel for 2 good ones. What do you think about Obama electing a VP with military experience?
Well, on the one hand, it is an obvious strategy, as one arguement against Obama is his lack of foreign policy experience %26amp; for McCain is his foreign policy experience and military record.
However, 2/thoughts. First is that typically a VP is chosen for the electoral clout that they might carry. Usually the electoral clout sought, is strength in areas where the Presidential candidate is lacking. Second, one of the criticisms linked to Obama's campaign style, is that he is not very good at listening to his advisors. As VP, I do not think it will truly matter what that person will have to say on foreign policy - or anything else....Obama has his agenda %26amp; philosophy regarding this pretty set. A military selection would pretty much be for show alone. What do you think about Obama electing a VP with military experience?First it will be almost impossible to find a military person that agrees with anything Obama stands for. Secondly would they be will to commit treason to reduce the military and our defensive weapons to level that Obama has promised to do. If he would find someone with this mentality it would not help him with any voters only the completely loonie left who is already going to vote for him so he might as well not try to fool anyone.
well i dont think so just because most military people are for war. not all but most. they would have the experiance in the forign affairs that he needs since there military and prob have been around the world. but personally i dont think it will do anything for his campaign just because past military experiance only is a small factor, the larger one is how well there know and there political skills. What do you think about Obama electing a VP with military experience? What person who ever served his country would stand next to the America-hating Obama? Ron Kovic maybe????What do you think about Obama electing a VP with military experience?
Obama would need more than 1 VP to help take up the slack in all the areas he doesn't have any experience in! Obama is an empty suit--a liar--a puppet for our enemies--no military experience--a racist--a radical--an elitist--and has YET to contribute ANYTHING to benefit this country.
I didn't think you could stack steaming chit that high, but then he is a lawyer...enough said!
Well, being that IF he gets elected he would be the commander in chief sooooo I would hope that he'd choose someone with military experience since he has NONE! But hopefully the American people will vote smart when the elections come around and we won't have to worry about it. :)What do you think about Obama electing a VP with military experience?
Would be a nice lineup against John McCain.
I would bank on Jim Webb or Chuck Hagel being his VP choice

Don't they make a cool team? McCain would be finished regardless who he picks if Obama aligns himself with one of those men. :)
the word for the day is " PANDERING"
can you say " PANDERING" boys and girls
It wont fool anyone, his hatred of the military is still very clear
Being that we're in a war right now, that would be a rational decision. Being that we're in an illegal and immoral war for the profit of the previous administration it would make even more sense.
NO. Military men GIVE orders. They will not listen to anyone with the exception of those who says fight, fight, fight.
That is one of the reason why the Bush Administration is so messed up. His Way Only.
He's only doing it to TRY and look like he's military minded when in fact he is NOT.
here is Obama's video on how he plans to disarm America!

WELL, JIM WEBB IS OUT...
after he revealed himself as sympathetic with the KKK--that would be in conflict with Obama being a member of the black KKK--the Black Liberation Theology church.
I think this could be helpful in getting an exit strategy for Iraq, but it's still too early to say who Obama will pick for his running mate.
Why stop there.......
He should look in to someone with
economic experience,
health care experience,
welfare reform experience
and so on.
Because:
HE DOS NOT HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE.
From which military....?...there is nothing he could do to get my vote. He could have Jesus Christ on the ticket and for me it would still be a pass.
I think its great. I think he doesn't NEED one. But it will help with those who question his national security experience. Which I must say that I personally don't think is necessary.
