What are the most highly sought after foreign languages in the military, other then Spanish? For example, is Russian a good language to learn? Arabic? Any other languages would be great, especially if there is a shortage of speakers.

Even so, where are the best online, book, or apps to learn them?What are the 3 most sought after languages in the Military?Russian is still a fairly good language to learn (for the military) but maybe it's not as highly in-demand or popular as it once was during the Cold War or the World Wars. Spanish, I would say, is more useful (and highly useful!) for business, medicine, etc., but keep in mind, we still have countries like Cuba and Colombia, etc., so you never know...



I would say that, at this point, the top most sought after languages (for military) are:

1) Arabic (any dialect + Modern Standard Arabic)

2) Persian (Farsi)

3) Dari (Afghan Farsi)

4) Pashto (a language spoken mostly by ethnic Pashtuns in Afghanistan and Pakistan)

5) Chinese (any dialect, really, but I'd say Mandarin more so than anything else)

6) Korean

7) Urdu (a language very similar to Hindi, spoken by the majority in Pakistan)
