What are good personal projects I can do on a military base?

So, I've found myself with a lot of extra time for the next two months. I don't deal with inactivity for extended periods of time very well so I'd like some ideas for projects I can work on until my duty schedule changes. Since I'm going to be on a military base the project cannot involve flammable or hazardous materials and must be able to be stored fairly easily. Preferably, it will not be expensive and will involve active thinking or be educational.

Thanks for the suggestions! What are good personal projects I can do on a military base?Paint miniatures ... if you get ones from Reaper versus Games Workshop the cost will not be too great.

What are good personal projects I can do on a military base?carve leather - you can start with wallets, handbags, belts, and such; when they get boring then go on to landscapes [really!] Look online [ebay, freecycle, craigslist, etc] for the tools [I got some tools from an ad in the local paper] and Tandy leather for kits, tools, ideas, books etc. I found it very interesting. Like any new hobby, it takes some money to start, but used tools and supplies would help with that.

The items last for YEARS and are well received by just about everyone.
