Why do you think Israel and Eritrea makes it compulsory for men and women to do military service and not other countries. Countries including some in Europe don't enforce women to do compulsory military service. Paul is wrong because eritrea does not receive aid from anyone. We are completely self reliant ! So we dont depend on aid from anyone. And also Eritrea expects men and women to join the army because we have a population of 4 million, whereas Ethiopia has a population of 60 million.wat do u expect?

However, it would keep dole ques down, and people who aren't loyal to this country would leave in droves.



I'd like to see it return in some form, maybe run alongside existing services, a bit like the TA.Israel and Eritrea makes it compulsory for men and women to do military service, but why not others ?

In many fields women contribute just as much as men. There's no reason why they shouldn't be conscripted.

it is because both these countries get the bulk of their military for free.



Israels military is virtually paid for by the US and EU every year in military aid



and Eritrea and most other african nations can afford to keep big armies because the rest of the world feeds their people with billions of dollars of international aid each year which frees up their money to spend on arms. if we stopped sending them sacks of rice they would soon start cutting spending on their military and instead invest in their own nations infrastructures.
