What are the military powers of the legislative branch?
I'm doing a paper and need to find powers of both legislative and executive branches in regards to the military. What are the military powers of the legislative branch? The legislative branch has the power to declare war. Congress abrogated this power when they passed the War Powers Act which allows the president to commit troops to war. I believe the War Powers Act is unconstitutional. However, its passage leaves Congress with one power concerning war, the power to finance or refuse to finance a war. What are the military powers of the legislative branch?Power to declaer war. Power to finance (or not) the war. I think officers recieve their commissions and promotions through act of congress but it is not stated in the constitution.
