What's the best route in the military to become a cop then criminal investigator?
what branch? military police? need to take college classes too. is it true military time counts as time toward becoming a criminal investigator? need hand to hand and weapon training. if all goes well may go fbi special agent. any info will be helpful, thank you. also what age is too late to join...24?What's the best route in the military to become a cop then criminal investigator?you need military or college at most agencies. decide and do one or the other as soon as you graduate high school.
either way, learn something other than law enforcement geared stuff, so if you don't get on the job, you have something to fall back on. take some electives in criminal/constitutional law, but don't major in criminal justice.
military CAN count towards your retirement, but not always. depends on the agency. a lot of state police agencies count military time.
to become an investigator, you have to be a regular patrol officer for a set amount of time, then get promoted. make arrests, and show diligence in your patrol investigations and you'll move up.
