I'm over here now and it's fairly easy to track monthly troop strength since 2003 but even now, some are here on their first rotation, some on their second, etc. I don't know that I've ever seen a number of how many different US military members have served over here so far.How many American military members have served in the Iraq war?About 1.5 million according to the VA.How many American military members have served in the Iraq war?1.5 million? How many American military members have served in the Iraq war?Those will be difficult numbers to get since many have multiple tours and the length of tours are different and the troop strength also fluctuates. What does it matter?How many American military members have served in the Iraq war?
That is almost imposable to track. It is easy to keep track of unit movement, but not individual troop movement. Some may spend an entire contract without touching foot off a state side base. Others will spend more time over seas then state side. Is that fare? No, but same Mos's are just not needed over there.
