If you are not familiar with the MGIB, this is pretty much a free ride. You sign up when you enlist, you serve at least 3 years, you earn full benefits, you commit for another 4 years and you can transfer eligibility to your wife. There are also scholarship programs available exclusively to military dependents. I suggest you enlist, have your wife fill out a FAFSA and get a PEL grant (free government money for college) and attend a local community college to pick up general education credits in preparation for a four-year college. She should be able to get about 2 years worth of credits in that time. When you've been in for 36 months, you'll have earned the full MGIB benefit. You transfer 18 of your 36 months of free tuition to your wife, who then finishes her bachelor's degree at a four-year university in two academic years. Meanwhile, you use Tuition Assistance, your earned credits from training and CLEP credits to get your AS from the CCAF, which you can then turn into transferable credits toward your bachelor's degree, which you can use the other 18 months of the MGIB to pay for.
