What will the military do after the war ends?

Obviously they train for war, however what does the military do once the war is over? Apparently the Afghan war is drawing to a close so i was wondering what i would be doing since i want to join the army in a few years. If the U.S is at peacetime, do we still get deployed, and to where?What will the military do after the war ends?The U.S. military has troops deployed around the world, such as Germany, South Korea, Japan (just to name a few) navy ships are docked at ports around the world as well.



Every unit(no matter their job) is constantly training to keep their skills updated. When I was in South Korea, we had alerts once a month to practice what would happen if North Korea was to attack the South.

all obama said was the additional 30,000 surge troops he sent in would be withdrawn by the end of 2012...that will still leave approx. 70,000 U.S. military personnel in Afghan...
