My girlfriend has been trying to have a conversation with her marine son overseas about the debt ceiling issues and unemployment via his military email, but he doesn't seem to be getting about half the messages... particularly the ones that present the government as the screw ups they are... anyone else having the same problem? Is the American military censoring emails to the troops in Afghanistan from home?A lot of times the mail is kind of lost for a while
.
There have been stories in newspapers of a man getting his mail

.Is the American military censoring emails to the troops in Afghanistan from home?
The military doesn't have a magic filter to monitor all GI's mail in Iraq or Afghanistan. Its a 3rd world country surrounded by mountains so Im sure a lot of emails do not reach their destination or like mentioned before your GF's son doesn't want to hear about problems going on in the real world when he has his own to deal with in the "stan"!!! If I were you I would explain to your GF that now is not the time to have political conversation about the debt or unemployment until he returns. All he needs to read in his emails are positive info. Almost all units request that their soldiers monitor what they put in their own out-going emails such as mission/operation details, info about the fire base, or even black out unit patches/names/rank on any out-going pictures sent back home via email. Is the American military censoring emails to the troops in Afghanistan from home?Absolutely not! There is no censoring whatsoever.
As if the Federal Government could give a rat's a** what some Marine and his Mom are talking about.
Just because he is on deployment does not mean he is only on government equipment. There are several civilian companies that provide internet service on bases in Afghanistan for troops' use.
Not usually. The only things, if anything, that may be flagged or censored would be location or unit details that may interfere with OPSEC (operational security). But all of that is flagged by an automatic system, not someone actually reading the emails. As long as there is no talk about unit strength, names, missions/schedules, and locations, they should be alright. Is the American military censoring emails to the troops in Afghanistan from home?I don't see how there's a possible way for the military to monitor and block all those e-mails going through. Plus, that would be illegal to tamper with someones mail and e-mail. Once an e-mail is sent, it's almost immediately delivered to its receiver anyways. Is the American military censoring emails to the troops in Afghanistan from home?
After 911 they developed a computer program that looks for "Key Words" for terrorists, if any of these emails contain "The key words" then this person is now being watched and your soldier will not get the emails.
Short answer: Maybe he's busy or maybe he currently isn't interested in those subjects. There is no magic e-mail filter/censor.Is the American military censoring emails to the troops in Afghanistan from home?
I don't see how they could do that unless the military was using some sort of federalized email service.
I smell at Troll!
My friend you need to know there is no war on terror, the talibans were supplied and trained by the US Government through Pakistan Elite commandos in order to stop Russia in their paths therefore taking over the countries rich in mineral resources and also securing bases over the middle east providing protection for the state of israel.
