We have one child.
When he gets sent to a base, what type of housing will we most likely get (on base)?
How many bedrooms/bathrooms?
Detached house or duplex/apartment style?
Etc. Any experience with military housing would be helpful.... thanks! What type of military housing will we most likely get?You would qualify for a 2 bedroom place. Either 1 or 2 baths. Since your husband is lower enlisted the housing sometimes isn't that great depending on where you get orders to. Usually the housing is duplexs.
Keep in mind sometimes it is better to live off post. You can save a bit of money. Housing waiting list can be anywhere from a few weeks to almost a year. Once you find out where he is getting stationed you can look up the housing on this site.

A 2 bedroom 1 (possible 1 1/2) baths, duplex/townhome style house. You also might have some kind of back yard area. You will most likely have a car port or assigned parking in a small parking in front of your house. You will likely be in the older neighborhoods on post. Your job doesn't really determine where you live, rank does. On post typically isn't too bad and considering your rank now you will probably get more house for your dollar with on post housing. After a few promotions it might be worth it to look into places off post. Once you know what post you are going to, you can log onto the post website and you should see a link for on post housing. There are pictures of the neighborhoods and sometimes you can see a floorplan. Good luck and welcome to the Army!!What type of military housing will we most likely get?It will depend on the post that he is assigned to. It can be tall apartment buildings or it can be 2 level apartments or it can be townhouse style, duplex or anything else. Each base/post has its own housing. You will most likely get a 2 bedroom/1 1/2 to 2 bathrooms in whatever style is available. There is no guarantee you will get into housing right away there can be a wait time of up to 18 months in some locations. You will not qualify for housing until he finishes Basic and AIT unless his AIT is longer than 6 months at one location.
each base has different minimums.. with one child you can expect a 2 BR apartment in most scenarios as an E1.
and on baase housing waiting lists can be a year long and in some cases you actually make out better taking BAH and finding someplace in town. What type of military housing will we most likely get?Small two bedroom townhouse style.
Actually, your not gonna get on post at all, for awhile.
Your gonna have to rent an apartment in town,What type of military housing will we most likely get?
depends on the base some have houses some have apartments
you will get 2 bedrooms and up to a bath and a half
In the past (and unless things have changed significantly), with few exceptions, on-post housing was reserved for E-4s with two years of service and above.
You will likely live in an off-post apartment, near the installation. What type of military housing will we most likely get?
NONE. On post, or base housing is not available for enlisted personnel at that low rank.
