How much money do these people make? Do most of them stay in the military for their entire life?
Anything else you think I would be interested in would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance to all who can help! What is the life of a doctor in the military like?I worked in the Healthcare Field in the Army for 13 years...DR come in the Army as Captains (CPT, O-3) Not only do they get CPT's pay they also get more money depending on what their specialty is...if they are an Intern when they join, they are still a CPT and the Army sends them to school to get the specialty that they want, or the Army needs...they make rank fairly quickly and they are treated differently from other Officers, because the Army needs them...some DR stay in, and some get out when they finish their time and or they have a good specialty like Plastic Surgery...you can be deployed to a combat zone...but 9 time out of 10 you are in a Combat Support Hospital in the rear...the Army will pay for any training that you want...all in all it is a pretty good thing for DR if they don't mind making less than other DRs...but besides your base pay you get a housing allowance and food allowance...which is good money...but remember Army DR are payed to take out bullets and fix blown up people...
EDIT: You do not go through Basic Training...you go to a 6 week Officers Basic COurse at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX...where you learn to wear the uniform, shoot a 9MM, learn to march and that is pretty much it...you may sooner or later have to go through another leadership school...but usually DR do not, because they are not leaders until they make LT Col (0-5)or COL(0-6)...What is the life of a doctor in the military like?i think it would be funny to see a doctor trying to operate with a drill sgt yelling from behind.
that stitch makes me sick!
you call that a manly scalpel? What is the life of a doctor in the military like? They make pretty good money plus they get to travel and help with school costs. Talk to your local recruiter you can ask questions w/out joining!
