Can I become a military pilot without previous flight experience?

I would like to become a military pilot. I'm already aware of the 4-year degree prerequisite which I'll complete next spring. I want to know if I would have a chance if I have never flown an aircraft before. Can I become a military pilot without previous flight experience?Yes. The military actually prefers people without flight experience. In that manner, they don't have to overcome the bad habits you learned from a civilian instructor.

Semper Fi,

ZCan I become a military pilot without previous flight experience?Hello "you got this"

Your chances are nil.

Why were you not in a college that has Air Force or Navy ROTC?

You needed to be enrolled in 4 years of ROTC and them - maybe - you would have a chance to become a pilot.

Nobody needs previous pilot - flight experience. They NEED to be able to be selected FOR military pilot training.

And, only commissioned officers are able to be chosen to fly and airplane for the military.

You have to be commissioned. And, just graduating in 2012 with a college degree will not automatically get you commissioned.

So, you need to do this:

A. Apply to the Air Force for Officer Training School (OTS) [Very few quotas each year - and you might have to wait 2 or more years to be accepted];

B. Apply to the Navy for Naval Officer Candidate School (OCS). Again, everyone who applies is not always accepted.

C. Apply to the Army for their Helicopter OCS school.

You would have had a much better opportunity if you had been in 4 years of ROTC in college. However, don't give up hope.

Did you know it is much better to fly for the military if you NEVER did civilian flying? Why? Because military flying rules are different. And, you would have to be "untaught" civilian rules of aviation to be retrained for military rules of engagement and flight safety.

Best wishes,

Larry Smith

Senior Master Sergeant, USAF (Ret.)

First SergeantCan I become a military pilot without previous flight experience? No if that were the case, we wouldn't have a great deal of pilots in the military. You are given intense training...Can I become a military pilot without previous flight experience?
Very few, if any, pilots in the military have previous flight experience.

What about all the military ballots that have not been counted?

I heard that the GOP got a court date, Nov.10th, so as to have the military ballots counted. The judge ordered them to be preserved because they were mailed to the soldiers late and recieved late. This should be reason enough to allow them to be counted.

I heard that this court order means today's election result will not be honored until this order is decided.

My question is...

What if they are counted and the votes are in McCain's favor? How will it affect the election results?

What about all the military ballots that have not been counted? The military ballots won't mean much. there's less than a million people serving the military, less than 1% of the american population. And these votes aren't localized, but spread evenly across the country. due to this spread, and the amount of people in the military, even if everyone voted McCain, it wouldn't be enough to change electoral votes, and wouldn't have much of an impact on the popular vote.

Oh, and josh, military votes are counted as absentee ballots. I'm stationed in NC, and sent my absentee to GA a couple of weeks prior. And you're right, the military is overly republican. In my shop, we did a mock vote just to see, and McCain won 43 to 1.What about all the military ballots that have not been counted?
They won'tWhat about all the military ballots that have not been counted? Not nearly enough to make one bit of a difference
At this point I think all of those military ballots would have to be for McCain... And even then I don't think he has a chance. Obama is winning big time. What about all the military ballots that have not been counted?First of all, there arent enough votes there that if they all went McCain it would make any difference. Next, the military is largely made up of young blacks and latinos. They are voting for Obama by and large. So it would probably hurt McCain more than helpWhat about all the military ballots that have not been counted?
You know how the Democrats ***** and moan about Bush cheating and stealing the election? I'd like to put it out there, thats its proven the troops support McCain, and its probably not a coincidence that they are not wanting to count their votes. I wonder how many hate mails I will get for saying that.
Obama's lead will be insurmountable and unaffected by a few thousand votes. Not as many military actually vote as people like to think they do.What about all the military ballots that have not been counted?
It is mathematically impossible for them to affect the election results.
I dont know how the military votes are counted....

Oh: For all the morons who believe that the military is split evenly between democrats and republicans or is more democratic...well, you are sadly misinformed. The USA military is HEAVILY republican and conservative.

The same way they affected the Bush elections. If they put McCain ahead, then he wins. But from the looks of it, they won't matter, and should they tip the balance, the Dems will no doubt challenge, and it'll be the same song and shuffle we had the last two times they lost. Apparently, they don't believe they can lose, or at least shouldn't. How arrogant and spoiled!

And, as we have seen, they never admit that cheating had anything to do with it, so long as they won. And if they didn't, they'll scream disenfranchisement. Bull, considering all the wetbacks who voted in California. No need to ask since when we allow illegals to vote for our President. That would be since they voted Democratic. If they had voted for McCain, you can bet they'd be up in arms over it.

What I want to know is if anyone plans to verify his qualifications--well, we know what those are--the infamous birth certificate. He ought not to be inaugurated, or even called, until he can prove that he is a natural born citizen. But I'd bet he plans to just slide by, secure in the knowledge that nobody will take responsibility for demanding that check. And the ones who should have, are just as corrupt and crooked as he.

What we ought to do is write our Congressmen, and State Attorney Generals, and everyone we can think of, and demand that this be cleared before they even call the race. We are the American people, and as the governed, we have every right to demand that he prove his right to take up the position. You should do so, and get everyone you know to do so, as well.

What is a strong lightweight material that would be good for military grade body armor?

I want to design a military style bullet proof vest and I have a good design but need a few materials to tests, any suggestions? What is a strong lightweight material that would be good for military grade body armor?Probably a boron carbide or silicon carbide ceramic baked over a kevlar inter-liner. US military currently uses the ceramic insert, or SAPI (small arms protective insert) as its primary means of halting the puncture function of high-speed projectiles (bullets) to vital areas, while relying on kevlar to slow the penetration of slower shrapnel materials to non-vital areas by hampering the penetration of non-linear non-symetric projectiles through successive disruption of momentum and inertia the subsequent layering. The ceramic plate provides superior protection to high-speed impact, but is successively weakened to consecutive impacts due to its frigid-to-non-existant malleability. A kevlar-meshed interlayer would greatly improve the resilience of the ceramic plate. This, however has yet to be developed, as a means to cure the ceramics while maintaining the tensile integrity of the kevlar within the plate has not yet been developed. Could a production method be developed though, this would probably be the most effective composite.

(However, if this question is in reference to a home experiment or school project, I would suggest leather, ballistic nylon, shorn carpet, linoleum, 1" ply rubber, etc. And only under parental supervision.)What is a strong lightweight material that would be good for military grade body armor?
Buckminster fullerines, if you can get your hands on them. Woven nanotubes would be good as well. What is a strong lightweight material that would be good for military grade body armor?I was going to say silk, but upon further investigation I found that modern munitions are simply too fast and powerful..What is a strong lightweight material that would be good for military grade body armor?
illegal to let you know. kevlar is found on many tires tho. What is a strong lightweight material that would be good for military grade body armor?I wouldn't feel safe wearing body armor made from a guy that had to ask people on Yahoo Answers for help

What Questions need i ask myself when choosing a branch of military service?

So right now i feel as if my life has yet again turned to utter ****.

I have to leave this place if i want any chance of being happy and enjoying my youth before it is too late. That is one thing i have no trouble working for.

I need to know what i should know to make an informed decision on military service. What Questions need i ask myself when choosing a branch of military service?I'm an old fart (prior military, too), and I have to say these are all good answers.

Think about why the military? Why not college in another city/state/country?

You say you feel that your life has yet again turned to utter do-do. Can you step back from the situation and see if maybe you can salvage it, or perhaps you're too close to it, and can't be objective? If running away from the current situation is the only motivator for joining the military, then go into the military with both eyes open, or you might end up trading one set of problems for another.

In any case, the process for enlistment, regardless of the branch, is going to take awhile. You have to take the ASVAB (the better you do in this, the more choices you have for specialties), pass a medical exam, and then you have to wait for a slot in basic training to become available. This all takes time.

Look at the websites for the different branches (I would have loved to have such a resource back in the 70s). Learn about the branch you are interested in. Is there something in a particular service that appeals to you, like say, submarines in the Navy, tanks in the Army or Marines, a boom operator (those guys that refuel planes in flight) in the Air Force?

When you've done your homework, contact a recruiter for the branch. Sure he or she can tell you what they have to offer, but if you go in with a little knowledge about the service you choose, you can ask better questions.

Good luck to you. What Questions need i ask myself when choosing a branch of military service?
First of all, take your time. This needs to be a thoughtful decision. Are you prepared to go to war? The greatest liklihood of dealing with that prospect would be in the Army or Marines, though all the Armed Forces are participating. I suggest you get printed information from all the branches of the Armed Forces and compare them. Talk to people who are serving or have served in the past. Ask around. You need to have some long conversations with people who have lived the life. Good luck with your decision. What Questions need i ask myself when choosing a branch of military service?" do i wanna get shot at or do i wanna not get shot at." lol. no but in all seriousness i think it is really up to your physical and mental capabilities and what do you want to do after the military. you dont devulge much about yourself in your question but i would deffinately recomend going to college and maybe do some ROTC. pays for college and you end up on the higher side of the army. not to put down enlisted men and woman of course. But as far as your question goes, Be a medic if your going to enlist it will help you in the future.
You need to be asking yourself what you want to do with your life and what career you would like.

Sometimes the Armed Forces aren't the right way "out".

This is a big decision, so think it over.

Good luck in whatever you do.What Questions need i ask myself when choosing a branch of military service? What kind of job do you want to do? Which military branch do you think you can handle? My husband is in the United States Army Reserves and he likes the army. He just doesn't like it when he gets deployed. What Questions need i ask myself when choosing a branch of military service?

  • How can I find military people who have to sell their homes because of deployment?

I'm a Veteran myself and know what it's like to get sent overseas and have your life disrupted. My situation is this: since returning from Iraq I haven't been able to find a suitable job and decided to become a real estate investor. I just happened to think there must be a lot of people in the military who can't keep their homes once they get deployed and I'd like to help them while helping myself to make some money How can I find military people who have to sell their homes because of deployment? The best thing is advertise on base and at the local establishments in the area. ie barber shops, make a simple web site, had out cards, classifieds and I'm sure there plenty other ways. Oh also on the local radio stations is a good way to get the word out. Also put a profile on military.comHow can I find military people who have to sell their homes because of deployment?Oh, so you'd like to take advantage of the fact that these GI's have to go overseas and you believe that you'll be able to buy their home lower than the actual value. That's real nice of you. But it won't work.

There are laws in place that mortgage companies cannot foreclose on homes owned by active military personnel while on deployment.

Besides, how the heck do you expect to be able to buy these homes if you can't find a "suitable" job for yourself? Do you think the banks will just give you money since you are a veteran? No, they won't - you must have a verifiable way to pay back the mortgage.

I find that your business plan needs some work so you don't come off as sleazy. Good luck to you - I hope you lower your standards a bit and get a real job.

How close are the military collaboration and "brotherhood" between US soldiers and British soldiers nowadays?

Can we say that this is the closest military relationship in the world, between two countries? How close are the military collaboration and "brotherhood" between US soldiers and British soldiers nowadays?Yes. We have shared secrets with them since WWI. Except for churchill not warning us about the pearl harbor attack until after it happened so we would be dragged into the war... but, besides that, yes.How close are the military collaboration and "brotherhood" between US soldiers and British soldiers nowadays?I think the relationship is still very close, I'd trust U.S. forces with my life. Some of my greatest memories in the military are from when I worked with Americans, in fact, I'm planning to fly out to New York this year and meet up with a few U.S. Marine Reserves I served with in 2009 - some of the best friends I've ever met.How close are the military collaboration and "brotherhood" between US soldiers and British soldiers nowadays?there is no doubt that i would rather ride to battle alongside my American cousins than my continental friends or eastern neighbours... however, by grandfather always told be to stay behind them, it was better to have your back exposed. How close are the military collaboration and "brotherhood" between US soldiers and British soldiers nowadays?
I'll put it this way. I'd take a fellow American covering my back any day of the week.
